Introducing
Wine Estate Leithakalk
Down to Earth and Terroir

Wine Maker
Klaus Wimmer
Klaus Wimmer grew up in a winemaker family and went to the winemaking school in krems. He then became a master of winemaking in Eisenstadt.
In 2016 he decided to start a new venture together with a few friends. As a result of that, Wine Estate Leithakalk was born.
Klaus calls himself a farmer first, and winemaker second.
He strongly believes that you can only make great wine out of superior grapes.
Terroir
Burgenland, Austria
The vineyards stretch across the rolling hills of the Leitha Mountains.
At the moment they are cultivating 12 acres with an output of 20,000 bottles per year.
Only the best ‘filet pieces’ of the vineyards grapes are being pressed for the Leithakalk Estate wines; the rest of the grapes, especially from the young vineyards, are being sold.
Harvested with low yields per hectare and attach great importance to strict selection of the highest quality of grapes.
At Wine Estate Leithakalk they believe good wines are made in the vineyard and not in the cellar.
Characterized by the typical Leitha limestone, very firm wines with firm minerality are created. Due to the high proportion of slate in the soil, their wines are compact and rich in finesse.
