Wine Maker
Jürgen Trummer
Jürgen is a third generation wine maker and took over his fathers vineyard 12 years ago at the age of 21.
Jürgen is very close to nature, he spends most of his tim in the vineyard caring and curing for his grapes and contemplating what he can make out of them.
Jürgen was awarded the “Discovery of the Year 2022 Austria” by Gault Millaut.

Terroir
Südsteiermark, Austria
Jürgens idea is to produce very down-to-earth and honest wines. In my opinion, this is only possible if you learn to treat the vineyards correctly, work sustainably and not interfere with fermentation and aging in the wine cellar by using fining agents or technical interventions.
The aim is also to produce wines that are typical of their origin and have a long life, which can only be achieved using the procedures mentioned.
Southern Styria offers numerous climatic advantages as it is located right between the Alps and the Mediterranean. At this point, warm and cold air masses meet, causing all of the precipitation to fall here. On the one hand, this makes wine production on these steep slopes very complex, but on the other hand, it gives the wines a distinct independence.
The temperature difference between day and night is often up to 20 degrees Celsius, which also has a very positive effect on the taste of the wines.
The winery's vines are very old and stand deeply rooted on a limestone reef of dead coral banks that is around 15 million years old, so the soil is the purest shell limestone, the likes of which is rarely found in the world.
