WINEMAKER:
FAMILY GRAF KHUEN-BELASI
The gentle southernly breeze brings the sunshine here for 1700 hours a year.
The organically managed grapes are harvested in a harmonious balance of ripeness and freshness, enabling us to continue on to the cellar- processing stage without recourse to additive substances. This provides us with the perfect base to develop pure, authentic wines, ably assisted by a lengthy barrel-ageing process and a long time on the lees.
TERROIR:
ALTO ADIGE (ITALY)
The idyllic beauty of the castle and grounds continues onwards into the surrounding vineyards.
Over gentle, rolling hills sheltered by the mountain range to their back, the vineyards surrounding the estate are dotted with small woods, a brook, hedges, and the duck pond. Outstanding soil of volcanic porphyry mixed with moraine deposits and lime infuse the vineyards with all of the nutrients they need to thrive.
The winery is in the fortunate position of being the largest single vineyard in the superb Appiano mountain area, and it is here that we do everything in our power to get the very best out of nature. The cornerstones of our vineyard philosophy are the organic management of our vineyard, the preservation of the natural diversity of plants and animals, and watchful eye to the challenges of the future.
They organically cultivate 25 acres of vineyards with a total production of 55,000 bottle per year.
