Johannes Münzenrieder

In 1932 Johannes’ Great Grandfather planted the first vineyards.

In 1977 Johannes’ parents decided to bottle the first wines and market them to the public.

In 2005, at the age of 23, Johannes took over the vineyards and founded Münzenrieder Wein GmbH.

Terroir

Burgenland, Austria

The Münzenrieder winery is located in the middle of the Neusiedlersee-Seewinkel National Park. Through natural cultivation, rigorous yield restrictions and careful cellar management, winemakers Johann and Johannes Münzenrieder create concentrated wines with a typical regional note and enormous intensity.

The fruitiness and concentration of Sämling, Welschriesling, and Grüner Veltliner grape varieties make them ideal for producing Beerenausleeese (BA), Trockenbeerenauslese (TBA) and Ice Wines typical of that region, which is characterized by a harmonious combination of sweetness and acidity with the fruity components of wine.

Zweigelt, Blaufränkisch, Cabernet Franc and Blends are being produced. However, the Münzenrieder family is also devoting more and more energy to dry white wines, such as Grüner Veltliner, which is vinified in steel tanks as well as small wooden barrels.
